Andy Murray Racket auctioned for $73,000 after the 2013 Wimbledon title

The historic 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 Wimbledon Men’s Singles Racket Andy Murray, used in the 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 final victory over Novak Djokovic in 2013, was recently sold at Goldin auction for $73,200 (including buyer premium).

Most paid for Andy Murray items at auction.

Murray’s first victory in 2013 was the first time the British won Wimbledon in 76 years. Murray, who won again in 2016 since World War I, and Fred Perry, who won in 1934, 1935 and 1936, are the only British to win over Wimbledon. On the women’s singles side, British women have not beaten Wimbledon since Virginia Wade in 1977.

The auction lot contains letters of reliability from photometric resolution. This has given him a “decisive” match to the use of the racket in the Wimbledon Finals, saying he played Murray’s second round and semi-final match. (LOA also states that the racket was used in the June 26 match before the tournament.)

The Murray racket auction was hotly contested. There have been 49 bids since the lot ended on August 29th.

The records paid for the tennis racket belong to the Baborat racket used by Rafael Nadal in the 2017 French Open Final. The racket sold for over $157,000 in June.
