  • Man Utd seeking to strengthen defense after Shaky Start
  • The “physical beast” Brante Wight could be a solid Maguire replacement

Manchester United is currently planning to offer £60 million to the “physical beast” during the January transfer period, as a replacement for its current first team player.

Man Utd seeking to strengthen defense after Shaky Start

Man United still doesn’t have a clean seat in the six games they’ve played in all of the competitions this season. Even Grimsbytown in League 2 managed to improve Andreonana twice in the second round of the EFL Cup at the end of August.

Reuben Amorim attempted to address one of the problems by bringing in Senne Ranmen’s at the end of the summer window, but the 23-year-old hasn’t started yet.

Given that the Belgians are still young and have not proven themselves in the major leagues where they only played in Belgium, it remains to be seen how Lammen can have.

So the Red Devils are now beginning to look at other ways to get things in place in the back, and are now aiming for Premier League defenders.

That’s according to a report from Catch Offside, which states Man United is the club that is currently showing the most interest in signing Everton’s Jarrad Bluntwaite, who can be brought to replace Harry Maguire.

Liverpool and two other unnamed top flight clubs are keen on Brantewight, but United’s interest may be the most sophisticated given that they are expected to bid £60 million on his services during the January transfer period.

It’s unclear whether Toffee is willing to sanction his departure for his resignation, but the 23-year-old wants a big move and United still has enough strength.

The “physical beast” Brante Wight could be a solid Maguire replacement

The towering 6’5 presence, the Everton defender was slightly taller than Maguire and was able to have the ability to succeed at Old Trafford, acclaimed two-foot “ball-playing physical beast” by Scout Ben Matinson.

At just 23, the defender is the age to be worthy of long-term success at United, and he has already established himself in the Premier League over the past two seasons with Everton, and Jordan Pickford was particularly impressed.

The hamstring injury has left the British not featured in Everton yet this season, but they were solid throughout their 2024-25 Premier League campaign, with an average sofa score rating of 7.02 compared to Maguire’s 6.91.

Given that Branthwaite has yet to establish himself at the international level, there are questionable marks as to whether £60 million is a bit expensive, but he is clearly in the early stages of his career and is clearly a talented advocate.
