Manchester United reportedly are looking for Barcelona central midfielder Frenkie de John, who has previously been on the radar.
This summer, the Red Devils signed an all-new Front 3 with Brian Mbemo, Mashwas Kuña and Benjamin Sesco taking part, but there’s still work to be done in other areas of the team.
Man Utd’s focus appears to be able to switch to the mid-length, with De Jong reliably upgrading upgrades to the likes of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte.
Dutch International was one of Erik Ten Hag’s top targets when he was in charge, as reported by BBC Sport and others, and it appears Ruben Amorim is also a fan.

Speaking to a football insider, De Jong can monitor MUFC if he doesn’t agree to a new contract with Barca, according to former United Scout Mick Brown.
“Man United tried to sign De Jung earlier,” Brown said.
“When he was at Ajax, they were watching him, but he chose to go to Barcelona. Since then they have tried to sign him from Barcelona as well, but have not agreed to the deal.
“He’s a very good player. When he played against Newcastle again, I showed that he thought he had a really good game.
“So it’s no surprise that Man United is watching him again, they feel like he’s going to add something to the midfield that he doesn’t have for now.
“Everyone knows that Amorim wants a new midfielder.

He added:
“If he fantasizes a move, he sees his options and may have Man United among them, but otherwise he may decide to stay in Barcelona.”
But one problem is that Mundo Deportivo reports that De Jong appears to be staying at Nou Camp and signing a new deal.
We need to see if this proves accurate, but in any case, it seems likely that De Jong or similar players will be on United’s list in the coming months.
