Thomas Frank praised Tottenham’s mentality after Joanne Pargigna’s downtime leveler rescued a “huge” point of wolves.

Pargigna attacked in four minutes of stop time to reject a shocking victory for the visitors after Santiago Bueno tapped in a 54-minute opener for the wolf at the bottom of the table.

The Wolves have reached north London as they lost five consecutive Premier League losses and have been sent to second place within two points for leader Liverpool, but struggled to create a clear chance until Pargigna’s great curl finish was slow.

“I like the effort and mentality and I think it’s actually huge, especially in the second half, which means getting points on nights that aren’t like that,” Frank said in a week after the 2-2 draw at Brighton.

“Now, it’s coming back twice in a row. I think it’s saying a lot about players. Yes, we wanted more and didn’t get to the highest performance level we’ve done today, but when we went down with 90 plus and scored points, I think it’s positive.”

Frank chose to play Pargigna and Rodrigo Bentanchour once again in the middle. This did not apply to Bournemouth’s 1-0 home loss in August.

The experienced duo was impressed this season, bringing a level of defensive steel, but with little creativity.

Asked about his mid-length selection, Frank said: “I always look back on that, but once you said the lineup you chose, you told me the lineup you chose, you’ve done it because of that and you don’t know what will happen if you choose someone else. Maybe you’d have lost 2-0.

“So, of course, I need to use what I believe in. That’s not that I haven’t gotten back in the game, I’m not thinking about it. In fact, I think the first half is pretty good.

“Yes, I want to make a little more, but I can say that after I took out the Rodri, I lost the structure and it didn’t work.

“Of course I’m trying to find out the best midfield. I think it’s safe to say that both Rodri and Joan are really good for us this season. Lucas (Bergval) was great, so I want to keep the players flowing a bit.”

Pereira responds to late spurs equalizers

Wolf boss Vitor Pereira praised the players’ fight, but sliding the victory in Death was a bitter medication of swallowing, especially after no points from the first five Premier League matches.

“I’m proud of the players and I’m pleased with the spirit they show in the game and the ambitions they show in the game, but when we have three points and lose two in the final moments it was frustrating because it was difficult,” Pereira said.

“The problem is, I won one point or lost two points. My answer is that I lost two points, especially as the team showed I came here to win the game late.”
