Chelsea’s summer windows arrived with excitement and anticipation, but not all signatures are running.
Among the newcomers, Jamie Bino Gitens is under scrutiny. After registering goals and not receiving support in his first seven appearances, questions have been increasing about his impact.
Football Insider reports Chelsea’s attitude towards the young winger’s January plan, and the club’s internal thinking provides insight into how they balance competitive pressures at Stamford Bridge with investment in youth.
Bynoe-Gittens arrived from Borussia Dortmund in the summer. At just 21 years old, he was considered one of Chelsea’s future projects, but his early returns are overwhelming.
Chelsea wants to give more time at the club
But under Enzo Maresca, the Chelsea coaching staff was patient. Gittens is adapting to the physical requirements of new leagues, new countries and UK football.
Despite an overwhelming start, Chelsea appears to have told insiders they have no plans to lend out Giten in January.
Chelsea Daily Mail reporter Kieran Gill told a football insider.
“I don’t think there’s a chance that Gittens will be loaned out in January.
“He’s just been in, he’s 21 and isn’t used to the Premier League. Chelsea wants him and Garnacho to compete on the left.”
It appears that Chelsea is intended to make him fight for his place rather than letting him loose early.
This suggests that they view him as a part of a long-term rotation of his left flank, not redundant, as part of a long-term rotation of his left flank, especially in his competition with Alejandro Garnacho, who has been more visible and more impressive than ever before.
The Gitens should start performing to play a more prominent role
The club’s decision could be weighed against the success or failure of his performance over the next few months. If he fails to make progress, his plans could change.
While the Bynoe-Gittens’ early struggles have certainly sparked conversations within Chelsea, the club’s current stance is one of optimism.
They don’t seem to want to offload him prematurely, and prefer to see how he carries him in the context of internal competition, rather than abandoning him on loan.
If Gittens fails to develop and deliver the results, Chelsea could soon face a tough decision.
