Barcelona are reportedly preparing to move Borussia Dortmund’s in-form striker Selhou Guirassy as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
The Catalan giants will certainly need to think quickly about replacing veteran frontman Lewandowski, who will turn 38 next season.
It would be difficult to find a player as good as the Poland international, but Guirasy is one of the most clinical finishers in Europe at the moment.
The Guinea international has an impressive record of 88 goals in his last 116 games for Dortmund and former club Stuttgart.
A late bloomer, Gilassy turned 29 earlier this year, but looks like the real deal after a rapid growth spurt over the past few years.
Selhou Guirassi’s move to Barcelona could cost €65 million
According to Viharges, Barça have shown a strong interest in Guirassi, who has a special release clause worth 65 million euros for certain big clubs.
Reports claim this would allow the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid to sign Guirassi with that €65m clause, but it is not clear whether any other clubs could fall into this slot.
However, Barcelona appear to be keenly interested, and Guirachy could well be targeted as Lewandowski’s successor.
Take a look at how Guirassi has fared over the past four seasons below…
season | game | the goal |
2022/23 (Stuttgart) | 28 | 14 |
2023/24 (Stuttgart) | 30 | 30 |
2024/25 (Dortmund) | 50 | 38 |
2025/26 (Dortmund) | 8 | 6 |
Guirassi’s numbers are so impressive that it is definitely inevitable that a big club will acquire him soon.
Barcelona would do well to bring him to the Camp Nou, even if Ficajes is concerned about the player’s age and the fact that he has never played in La Liga before.
However, €65m looks like a potential bargain for such a prolific player, so it could be dangerous for them to hold back as it is imagined that other major clubs will be keen to sign him.
