Napoli are reportedly maintaining contact with Manchester United midfielder Koby Mainu’s entourage ahead of a loan move in January.
The England international has struggled for minutes recently and it could make sense for him to explore a move elsewhere this winter.
There has been a lot of speculation about Mainu going back to the summer, with Sascha Tavolieri of Sky Sports claiming that he remains in contact with Napoli.
This follows a recent report from ESPN that said Maynou could reconsider a move away from Old Trafford in January.
United have been reluctant to let Mainu go so far, so it will be interesting to see if their stance changes in the next transfer window.
Koby Mainu definitely needs to start the Manchester United game
Most Red Devils fans will probably agree that it’s a bit puzzling to see Reuven Amorim continue to ignore Mainu in the starting XI.
The talented 20-year-old made a big impression when he first joined the team under former manager Erik ten Hag and seems good enough to play more often.
It may certainly look a little ridiculous if this popular homegrown youngster is allowed to leave and he continues to shine elsewhere.
Napoli focus on Mainuo after success with McTominay and Hoylund
However, it makes sense that Napoli would be keen to raid United again, as they have done very well in turning MUFC’s failures back into top form.
Scott McTominay has proved a revelation at Napoli, while Rasmus Hjølund has also enjoyed a strong start to the season since joining on loan.
This will definitely be an interesting story to watch heading into January, as Mainu looks like a player who can definitely improve once he leaves Manchester.
