  • Casemiro likely to leave Manchester United next summer
  • Casemiro’s competitive years at Manchester United

Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Casemiro’s future at Manchester United.

Manchester United oversaw a major team shake-up in the summer, sacking several first-team players in a bid to raise funds and reduce wages.

The club continues to make financially motivated decisions as it looks to further reduce wages.

Man United have stalled contract negotiations with Harry Maguire and are only looking to extend his contract with the club if he agrees to a pay cut.

Casemiro is another player whose contract ends in the summer, but there is no sign of him being offered a new contract yet.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the situation surrounding the Brazilian’s future remains strange, as negotiations regarding a new contract have not yet taken place from the club.

This created a lot of uncertainty around the players. Romano added that although nothing was guaranteed, there was a “concrete possibility” that United and Casemiro could part ways if an agreement is not reached soon.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast, Casemiro said:

“It’s a strange situation for Casemiro because he is still a very important player for Manchester United. He is a very important starter for Ruben Amorim and one of the most important players in the dressing room.”

“Casemiro’s status is not just his performance, he is also a serial winner. His trophy cabinet speaks for him. The leadership of this player is incredible, the power of this player in terms of trophies and experience is incredible.”

“In other words, he is still a starter, but there are currently no negotiations for a contract extension. There is a feeling among those close to the club that Casemiro could leave in the summer of 2026, especially after rejecting very important financial offers from Saudi Arabia in recent years.”

“There is no guarantee that Casemiro and United will part ways, but as we have not yet started discussions about a new contract with Casemiro, there is a concrete possibility that they will part ways in the summer.”

Casemiro’s competitive years at Manchester United

The Brazilian joined Manchester United in 2022 in a stunning move from Real Madrid.

Casemiro has been a talismanic figure at Manchester United since joining from Real Madrid in 2022, quickly establishing himself as a key part of the midfield.

He helped the team win the League Cup and qualify for the Champions League in his debut season, scoring seven goals in all competitions.

Afterwards, his form declined and he faced strong criticism from fans and pundits, but with the arrival of Ruben Amorim, he regained his former form and became an important player for the Portuguese coach.

He has been a regular starter for Amorim’s side this season, starting six games and scoring one goal in the Premier League, taking his total for the club to 18 goals and 12 assists in 121 competitive games.
