Chelsea’s ambitious project under manager Todd Boley is finally starting to take shape after a rocky start to ownership.
The American billionaire’s early years at Chelsea were marked by heavy spending and rapid management changes, with several managers replaced in quick succession.
But now a more stable long-term vision has emerged, with the club moving closer to adding another key player behind the scenes.
Chelsea to sign former Liverpool recruitment expert Dave Fallows
Former Liverpool recruitment specialist Dave Fallows is in talks to join Chelsea as a senior sporting leader, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Fallows is expected to be responsible for scouting, player development and youth development, key areas central to Boley’s long-term strategy.
Since Boley’s arrival, Chelsea have spent more than £1bn on signings, with a focus on signing young players seen as future superstars.
Fallows’ arrival will further strengthen this youth-led approach, complementing the work of Enzo Maresca, who has already begun integrating several promising academy players into the first team.
Dave Fallows’ success at Liverpool
Fallows played a key role in shaping Liverpool’s golden era under Jurgen Klopp. Together with Michael Edwards, Fallows helped build one of the most successful recruitment models in modern football.
He was instrumental in discovering and signing innovative signings who were central to Liverpool’s Champions League and Premier League victories, including Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Andrew Robertson, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.
Fallows also oversaw the introduction of a data-driven scouting system that revolutionized Liverpool’s player recruitment process, allowing the club to identify undervalued talent before they become global stars.
Fallows’ proven experience from Liverpool’s successful recruiting years means his arrival could be a big step towards building a sustainable, data-driven future at Chelsea.
