Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are looking to strengthen their defense with the signing of Juventus defender Pierre Carles.
The 25-year-old French defender has had a very good run with the Italian club and is highly regarded across Europe. According to a report in Tutto Juve, two Premier League clubs are interested in signing the defender, with the transfer fee potentially around 30 million euros.
Tottenham and Newcastle have the money to get a deal done and it remains to be seen whether they will offer to sign him.
Can Spurs give Pierre Karls regular chances?
It will be interesting to see how the north London club accepts him into their starting line-up. They have Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin and Kevin Danso at their disposal. Luka Vusković is also in the book.
Signing another central defender would be quite surprising. Tottenham should look to invest in other areas of the team.

Newcastle need Karl
Newcastle, on the other hand, could definitely use another central defender. The 25-year-old could be the ideal long-term partner for Sven Botman. Dan Byrne and Fabian Schaal are in their 30s and will need to be replaced soon.
Newcastle have an exciting project and are competing in the UEFA Champions League. They recently won a domestic trophy as well. They could be an attractive transfer destination for the 25-year-old defender. He is described as an “intelligent” footballer and has the qualities to succeed in the Premier League. He could be a great addition for Newcastle if they can get a deal done.
The reported asking price of 30 million euros may look like a bargain in the future. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle are prepared to pay that.
