Liverpool manager Arne Slott has spoken about the possibilities behind Mohamed Salah’s lackluster form and struggle to convert chances.

The Egyptian international has looked nothing like his old self so far this season, managing just three goals in all competitions and none in his last six games for the club.

Still, Slott doesn’t seem too worried about Salah, saying last on his list of issues are concerns about the 33-year-old’s goal numbers.

The Dutch tactician seems optimistic that Salah will turn things around, but suggests the player may find it difficult to maintain his usual composure as his side continue to trail in games so far.

Watch the video clip from Slott’s press conference ahead of today’s weekend game against Brentford when he was asked about how Salah was doing.

The Reds manager said: “It’s very difficult to say why that happened. I can think of several reasons…”

“I think footballers in general miss opportunities and Mo is also human.

“We’re not used to him missing chances several games in a row, but these things can happen.

“Maybe it’s easier to take chances when you’re winning 3-1 than when you’re losing 1-0, but that’s probably not quite the case for him.

“But I think the most important thing is that Mo has always scored goals for our football club. What worries me most is that Mo starts scoring again, because that’s what he’s been doing his whole life and that’s what I expect him to do for our club in the coming weeks and months.”

Salah clearly has the backing of his manager, but he was also on the bench against Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek, so he needs to improve quickly or he may find himself left out of the squad more as the season progresses.
