Liverpool are looking to strengthen their squad when the transfer window reopens in January.
They were very active in the summer transfer window, signing several players. However, they have had a mediocre start to the season and currently sit third in the league table. They want to defend their Premier League title and need to strengthen their squad. You need to tighten your back.
Liverpool need a defender
Liverpool are very poor defensively and are expected to lose Ibrahima Konate towards the end of the season. He will be a free agent but has not yet signed an extension with the club. Liverpool need to find the right person to replace him.
It was expected that they would sign Marc Gehi in the summer transfer window, but the deal did not materialize. It will be interesting to see if they decide to return for the Crystal Palace star in January.
Liverpool to focus on transfers in January
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider: “We expect to see some serious movement from Liverpool in January. There are some cracks showing, so they’ll probably spend somewhere they didn’t plan on. They’ll need to strengthen their defence.”
After such a period in the summer, few would have expected Liverpool to lose four games in a row. They bounced back with a win over Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, but it will be interesting to see if they can take the leap towards marriage now.
There are definitely weaknesses in the side and Liverpool need to fill them. Apart from our quality central defenders, they also need to consider investing in wingers and defensive midfielders.
