According to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri, there are major developments in Vinicius Junior’s future after Real Madrid reportedly slapped a €150 million price tag on the star winger after contract extension talks completely broke down.
The development could signal a dramatic change in the relationship between the Brazilian national team and the Santiago Bernabéu hierarchy, paving the way for one of the most high-profile transfers in modern football.
Sources close to Madrid say talks over Vinicius’ long-term contract extension have broken down and the Spanish giants are considering letting him go as early as the summer of 2026.
Although the club continues to value the 25-year-old as one of its biggest assets, Florentino Perez and the board have revealed that no ransom will be demanded and instead they will set a firm valuation of €150 million for potential suitors.
Real Madrid demand premium price for Vinicius Junior
Tavolieri reported:
“According to multiple reliable sources, Real Madrid have set the starting price for Vinicius Junior at 150 million euros after contract extension negotiations have completely broken down.”
The Brazilian attacker has struggled under manager Xabi Alonso this season and his role as the team’s main player has diminished. In some important games, Alonso sent him off earlier than expected, which didn’t sit well with the attacker.
The move effectively opens the door for him to leave in the summer of 2026, with Saudi Arabian clubs reportedly leading the charge for the Brazilian.
Several Saudi teams, including Al Hilal and Al Nasr, are said to be preparing major offers for Vinicius that could make him one of the highest-paid players in world football.
The Saudi Pro League continues its strategy of attracting Europe’s elite stars, and Vinicius’ name fits perfectly into that long-term vision.
Man City interested in Real Madrid star
But Saudi Arabia is not his only destination. Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola is said to be monitoring the situation closely.
Premier League giants Man City are said to be praising the Brazilian attacker and would like to sign him to join Erling Haaland in attack.
Guardiola has long admired Vinicius’ explosiveness, technical ability and versatility up front, and City’s financial strength could make them one of the few European clubs able to match Madrid’s asking price.
Perez believes the summer of 2026 is the ideal time to cash out Vinicius while Vinicius’ market value remains at an all-time high.
It remains to be seen whether the player will head to the Middle East or move to the Premier League.
