Leeds have made a good start to their return to the Premier League and are expected to seek more signings when the transfer window reopens in January to improve their chances of avoiding relegation. But it turns out they may not be able to do the business they want.

Leeds spent the summer signing players like Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff, but despite that there are plans to add another midfielder in January, although that may not be possible.

Issoufou Sissokho is wanted by Leeds, but according to Pete O’Rourke (via Football Insider), they won’t be able to sign him unless they make at least a few sales.

“Sissouho is probably an option floated by Leeds and would be a good value for money player in that respect. He has 18 months left on his contract with Maccabi and I’m sure the opportunity for the Malian international to move to the Premier League would be of great interest to him.”

“Leeds have also spent a lot of money on a number of players and have almost maxed out their PSR and FFP in the summer window, so I think it will be difficult to get a deal done. So if you get a new contract like Sisoho, you might have to move players, but he is a young player with huge potential.”

“As I said, Leeds are obviously monitoring them, so let’s see if they follow up and solidify their interest.”

Making a deal in January could be the difference between Leeds remaining in the Premier League or not, so it will be interesting to see how active they are in the transfer market when January begins.
