  • Jeremy Monga has impressed Europe’s top clubs
  • Man City are in a race to sign Monga

One of the few bright spots in Leicester City’s rocky start to the campaign has been 16-year-old winger Jeremy Monga, who has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting young prospects in English football.

Despite Leicester’s struggles in the Championship, Monga’s speed, talent and creativity have attracted the attention of top clubs across Europe.

According to TBR Football, Manchester City are currently leading the race to sign the teenager, who they were close to signing before opting to remain in Leicester’s academy last summer.

Jeremy Monga has impressed Europe’s top clubs

Monga’s rise through the ranks has been nothing short of amazing. The young winger has made a smooth transition from youth football to the senior set-up and has become a regular starter in recent weeks.

His ability to weave through defenders and his acumen in the final third have made him one of Leicester’s most talked-about talents.

So far this season, he has one goal and one assist and, more importantly, has shown the maturity and composure of a player far beyond his years.

City’s interest in Monga is not new. The Premier League champions have been closely monitoring his development and see him as a player who would fit into their long-term project under manager Pep Guardiola.

But what makes this situation particularly interesting is that Monga is still 16 years old and cannot sign a professional contract.

This leaves Leicester in a vulnerable position, unable to prevent other clubs from swooping in and securing his spot before he turns 17.

Citi is not alone in that pursuit. Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United are reportedly interested, as well as Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Such widespread attention shows the magnitude of Monga’s potential. However, despite the appeal of these European giants, leaving Leicester prematurely could halt his progress.

At the King Power Stadium, he is already a regular in the Championship and has gained valuable first-team experience, but that is far less likely at the Premier League’s top clubs, especially Man City, where he is more likely to return to youth or reserve football.
