BRACELETON, Ga. — Charlie Woods will share an honor with Tiger Woods on Wednesday when the son of the 15-time major champion was named a first-team All-American by the U.S. Junior Golf Association.
Charlie Woods, a senior at Benjamin School in South Florida, was one of 12 boys named to the first team on the AJGA’s annual list. Myles Russell, a 17-year-old who was an alternate at this summer’s Walker Cup, was named Player of the Year for the second time.
Tiger Woods was the AJGA Player of the Year in 1991 and 1992.
Charlie Woods won his first big title at the Team TaylorMade Invitational in May.
The AJGA second team included Mason Howell, who won the U.S. Amateur and played in the Walker Cup, and Cameron Kuchar, Matt Kuchar’s son who will attend TCU.
Aphrodite Deng, a Canadian living in New Jersey, was named Athlete of the Year in the women’s division. Deng won the U.S. Women’s Junior and two major AJGA events this year.
Teams were determined solely by Rolex AJGA rankings as of October 14th.
