  • Manchester United hint at signing Harry Kane
  • Kane has always been linked with a move to the Premier League

Former Manchester United defender Danny Simpson has sparked speculation over Harry Kane’s future by suggesting the England captain would be open to a move to the Red Devils in 2026.

Kane, who currently plays for Bayern Munich, will join the German champions in the summer of 2023 after ending his long association with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 32-year-old has been in great form since his move to the Bundesliga, smashing records with his relentless goalscoring.

However, despite his success overseas, there have been rumors of a potential return to the Premier League, particularly as his contract reportedly contains an exit clause that could be triggered in a future transfer window.

Manchester United hint at signing Harry Kane

Simpson claimed Man United could be the “perfect destination” for Kane should he decide to return to England.

“To be honest, I don’t know where else he could go.” Simpson said, as reported by GOAL.

“He can’t go to City or Arsenal and I don’t think he’ll turn down Manchester United.

“He can come back and chase the Premier League goal record and lead United’s line. I’d love to see that. I said that when I left Tottenham. It’s a good fit. If that option was available, I would 100 per cent do it.”

Simpson also believes Kane’s arrival will be beneficial for United’s 22-year-old striker Benjamin Šeško, who has shown promise since joining from RB Leipzig last summer.

“He might be able to help Sesco as well.” Mr. Simpson added.

“He will learn from Kane without feeling the pressure of playing every game. Harry has already won trophies with Bayern, but now he can come back here and become a legend, like he did when Robin van Persie came in and led United to the title.”

Kane has already established himself as one of the greatest strikers of his generation, with over 400 career goals.

But he still has big ambitions to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 goals, a feat that would require a return to English football.

Several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, are monitoring Kane’s situation closely, aware that his current contract could see him leave as early as the summer of 2026.

During his time at Tottenham, Kane was linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy blocked a move domestically, forcing Kane to look overseas.

The striker is currently in the latter stages of his career but is still performing at an elite level, and Simpson’s comments reflect growing sentiment among fans and pundits that a return to England could define Kane’s legacy.
