‘It makes sense’: Former Liverpool star says he’s done with the slot after latest decision

Liverpool faced Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League tonight and lost 1-0.

Mario Lemina scored the only goal of the match in the 7th minute, but Liverpool were unable to get back into contention. They had a chance to find the back of the net and will be completely disappointed with the result.

However, the Turkish team is under constant pressure and the Premier League side could be considered lucky to have narrowly missed out here. All eyes will be on whether Liverpool can overturn that deficit in the second leg at home.

Overall, it was another disappointing performance from the Premier League champions, but former Liverpool star Jermaine Pennant slammed the manager on social media. He questioned Slott’s decision not to call up Rio Ngmoja.

Pennant wrote to X, “Okay, slot is over. Played 65 minutes in the last game and was man of the match. 87 minutes have passed, every player was terrible, and Rio didn’t play…someone please make it make sense.”

The youngster has shown time and time again that he can inject much-needed pace and unpredictability into the final third. Liverpool needed some of that against Turkey today, but Slott opted to bring on Codi Gakpo instead.

The Dutch international has had a difficult season and he hasn’t been at his best. Relying on him to deliver supplies did not work for Liverpool. Players like Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz were also very poor today. There is no doubt that this youngster deserved a chance to change the game in his team’s favor.
