Alan Shearer takes aim at Manchester United star – ‘We have to do better’

Man United are currently unbeaten in their last five games but will feel they should have beaten Tottenham on Saturday rather than settling for a 2-2 draw in north London.

Ruben Amorim’s side led 1-0 until the 84th minute, but two goals in quick succession put them 2-1 up and Matthijs de Ligt’s late goal secured them a share of the spoils. However, before Tottenham’s two goals there were big chances to find the back of the net, both of which were brought down by Benjamin Sesco.

Sesco had big chances to score at 1-0 and 1-1, but failed to convert on either occasion and was criticized by Alan Shearer on the BBC’s Match of the Day, according to Football Insider.

“Sesco struggled again. To be honest, he should have scored because he came on with just over 30 minutes left today and had two really good chances. I can tell he’s struggling to get his confidence back, but I think he just didn’t know what he wanted to do (when he scored). Two chances at this level are two big things we have to improve on.”

Sesco’s second chance was thwarted by a great challenge from Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven, which prevented the Slovenian international from seeing how much time was left. He appears to have injured his knee, which could lead to a suspension of the match, especially given the comments regarding Amorim’s situation.

It remains to be seen whether Sesco will be injured. If so, it would be a blow for Man United, even if their form this season has been below average.
