President Trump, Tiger gives advice to Kai Trump ahead of LPGA debut

Kai Trump prepared for his first LPGA Tour event this week with words of wisdom from the 15-time major champion and president of the United States.

Their advice: “Have fun.”

President Trump spoke to reporters Tuesday, two days before teeing off at Annika at Pelican Golf Club in Bellaire, Florida. The 18-year-old said her grandfather, President Donald Trump, and Tiger Woods both contacted her ahead of the event.

“(Tiger) told me to go out and have fun and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens,” she said.

Mr. Trump is the eldest son of Donald Trump Jr. The University of Miami, a social media favorite, received an invitation from a sponsor to attend an LPGA event hosted by Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam.

Trump said his grandfather advised him to stay calm this week: “Don’t be nervous. Try your best not to be nervous.”

President Trump himself is an avid golfer, and Kai said the two have shared a lot of time on the course.

“He’s very good,” she said.

Kai Trump was asked if he had ever hit him and refused to answer.

“I’ll leave that to your discretion,” she said. “I don’t know. We play a lot. We have a great time there. We’re always the same team, too.”

Trump added that his grandfather will not be attending the ceremony in Florida this week.

But many other great players are scheduled to participate in the event, including defending champion Nelly Korda and WNBA star Caitlin Clark, who will participate in Wednesday’s pro-am.

“All the players here are great and good at what they do. It’s really great to be in the ropes and on the practice field with them,” she said. “I think we’re going to learn a lot watching them play throughout the week. It’s been great so far.”

Trump, currently No. 461 in the United States Junior Golf Association rankings, will tee up with Olivia Cowan and Hinako Shibuno on Thursday at 12:32 p.m. ET.
