Man United are expected to explore the possibility of one or two new signings when the January transfer window opens, and Conor Gallagher is one player who could arrive at Old Trafford.

In recent weeks, Man United have increased their interest in Gallagher, who has struggled to impress at Atletico Madrid this season. He started just four games for the La Liga giants and played 90 minutes just once.

In comments to Diario AS (via Football España), Gallagher did not admit that he is not happy with his situation at Atlético. However, he also revealed that he is not actively seeking a move in January, with the aim of returning to manager Diego Simeone’s plans.

“I’m not happy. I don’t think anyone’s happy if they don’t play as well as they want, but I’ll continue to work hard to help the team whenever I get the opportunity, and hopefully I’ll get more opportunities as a starter.”

“I’m very happy here. My goal is to win titles with Atleti and I want to play a bigger role in the team. And, as I said, I will continue to do my best to play more minutes and contribute to the team.”

Should Manchester United sign Conor Gallagher in January?

It would make sense for Gallagher to seek a move away from Atletico, especially considering he needs to play regularly to have a chance of being selected for England’s World Cup squad next summer. Manchester United will give him more opportunities, even if he is not guaranteed to be a starter.
