AAA Game Studios has released a major update to its VR golf sim, Golf 5. Three brand new multiplayer modes are the highlight of this patch.
Four-ball mode allows two teams of two users to compete against each other, but only the score of the highest scorer from each team counts. Flash 3-hole mode features bite-sized competition across three holes, while Scramble mode features four players and everyone’s best swing determines the next shot.
The Playoff Edition update also adds two remastered golf courses: Forest Parklands and Tropical Paradise. Users can play 9-hole and 18-hole matches on these maps, another Golden Dunes original, and seven real-life courses available in-game, including St. Andrews Old Course and Royal County Down.
Golf 5 features physics-based gameplay and numerous controller settings to allow users to fine-tune their swings, including support for golf controller attachments.
The developers have also created thorough bug fixes and stability passes for Playoff Edition, so the game should feel much more stable than before. A new detection system prevents titles from incorrectly registering certain movements as shots, making controls more predictable and precise.
Golf 5 is available on Meta Quest, SteamVR, and Pico 4 systems.
