Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman are set for a rematch, this time in the boxing ring. The former UFC middleweight champions have agreed to face off on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta “Tank” Davis event, as announced by Most Valuable Promotions. The fight is scheduled for November 14th at the Caseya Center in Miami and will be a six-round heavyweight bout that opens the main card on Netflix.

Most Valuable Promotions CEO Nakisa Bidalian told ESPN that Silva and his team reached out shortly after the Paul vs. Davis fight was announced, expressing interest in participating and specifically wanting to fight Weidman. Given the fighters’ history and mutual interest, MVP fully supported the idea, seeing it as an opportunity to attract a wider, multi-generational audience and boost the event’s appeal in Brazil.

Silva and Weidman previously fought twice in 2013. Weidman, undefeated as a professional mixed martial artist, famously knocked out Silva in a shocking upset, ending Silva’s UFC record 16-fight win streak. Their rematch is remembered for the serious leg injury Silva suffered after Weidman checked one of his kicks.

Silva expressed excitement about the upcoming fight, saying, “I am very excited to embark on this new fight with Chris. We have a history and will add a new chapter to it on November 14th, live on Netflix. It will be a spectacle for our fans!”

In boxing, Silva has a record of three wins and two losses, including notable victories over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz after starting his boxing career in 2021. He last lost to Jake Paul by unanimous decision in 2022. Weidman claims to be undefeated in boxing as he has not yet competed in any professional or amateur boxing matches.

Weidman confidently stated, “I am undefeated in boxing and will remain so on November 14th, live on Netflix. I’m the original spider killer.”

Fan Take: This matchup is significant for fight fans because it rekindles one of UFC’s most memorable rivalries in a new combat sport, blending MMA history with boxing’s growing crossover appeal. The outcome could influence future cross-discipline showdowns and expand the horizons for fighters transitioning between MMA and boxing.
