Chicago Sky standout Camila Cardoso had a notable sophomore season in the WNBA in 2025. The 6-foot-7 center appeared in 40 games, averaging 13.6 points on 52.8% shooting, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 blocks over 27.6 minutes per game. Despite her solid performance, the Sky struggled, ending the season with a 10-34 record, tied for the league’s worst along with the Dallas Wings.

Cardoso, who was the third overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, was selected ahead of Angel Reese, the seventh overall pick. Together, they have become key pieces of Chicago’s promising young core and one of the league’s most promising frontcourt duos.

On Friday, Cardoso revealed a significant career development, announcing her signing with Project B, a new international 5-on-5 basketball league set to launch its first season from November 2026 to April 2027, during the WNBA offseason. In a social media post, she expressed excitement about the opportunity to travel, represent Brazil, and begin this new chapter.

Project B’s innovative structure involves tournaments across multiple cities in Asia, Europe, and Latin America, with reported salaries starting at $2 million annually for star players, plus a share of the league’s equity. Cardoso, currently playing overseas in China during the WNBA offseason, joins other notable WNBA players like Li Meng and Janelle Saraun in this new league, which has also attracted stars such as Jewell Lloyd, Jonquel Jones, Alyssa Thomas, and WNBA Players Association President Nneka Ogwumike.

Fan Take: Camila Cardoso’s move to Project B highlights the growing opportunities for WNBA players to expand their careers globally while elevating the sport’s international presence. This development is exciting for WNBA fans as it promises increased visibility, competition, and financial rewards for players, potentially boosting the league’s growth and popularity worldwide.
