“When I got the call yesterday, I was filled with excitement and happiness,” Fisker-Molgaard shared after the morning skate on Thursday. “Ron mentioned I’ve been working hard and that I needed to catch a flight soon. I’m a bit overwhelmed but really glad to be here.”
The 20-year-old saw limited action during his NHL debut, skating just under 7 minutes, yet he managed to leave his mark by assisting on the Kraken’s opening goal, marking his first NHL point. The play involved Fisker-Molgaard hustling for a loose puck during a board battle, moving to the front of the net, and deflecting the puck to Ty Carty for the assist.
Though it might have been unexpected for Molgaard to be the first player from the 2023 draft class to appear in an NHL game, he has consistently impressed the Kraken organization since arriving in North America this summer. Selected 52nd overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, he made it to the final roster for training camp after playing in five preseason games.
Molgaard started his AHL career on a high note, scoring 3 goals and totaling 10 points in 14 games, ranking fourth in points.
