Spain and Barcelona's rising star, Lamine Yamal, has mentioned that he draws inspiration from the playing styles of Lionel Messi and Luka Modric. He specifically admires their intelligent passing techniques as a key component of his own game.

At just 18 years old, Yamal is recognized for his exceptional passing skills, a trait that aligns with his natural outlook on the game rather than relying solely on dribbling skills, which he admits he lacked as a child.

“Interestingly, I wasn’t much of a dribbler growing up,” Yamal shared in a recent interview with CBS's "60 Minutes." “I was more about running and scoring, but I’ve always had great vision on the field from a young age."

“I’ve observed Messi creating innovative passes that often lead directly to goals, which motivates me to improve. I also enjoy watching Modric’s unique outside-foot passes; their style resonates more with my approach than just dribbling,” he explained.

Yamal has already made a significant mark in his young career, netting 37 goals in 144 matches for both his club and country. He highlighted four memorable goals, two of which were scored in Spain’s 2-1 victory against France in the Euro 2024 semifinals—a tournament Spain ultimately won.

Another standout moment occurred recently when he scored a remarkable inside-foot goal during Barcelona’s thrilling 3-3 UEFA Champions League match against Club Brugge.

If he had to choose one favorite goal, Yamal stated, “I would lean towards the goal against France in the Euros for its significance and beauty, though I also cherish the one against Brugge."

Fan Take: Lamine Yamal’s growth as a player signifies a bright future for Spanish soccer, illustrating the impact of nurturing young talent. His ability to combine vision and creativity on the field could inspire a new generation of players and elevate Spain’s status in international football.
