  • Sam Agehowa targeted by Tottenham
  • Spurs lack a consistent No. 9

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to make a big move in the upcoming January transfer window to address their need for a consistent goalscorer.

According to Sky Sports, the north London side are eyeing FC Porto’s prolific forward Sam Agehowa, who is one of Europe’s most exciting young attacking talents.

Agehowa is only 21 years old and has already built a reputation as one of the most promising strikers on the continent.

After joining Porto’s first team last season, he had an exceptional debut campaign, scoring 27 goals in all competitions and adding three assists.

His lethal finishing, instinctive movement within the box, and ability to sustain play quickly led to him being compared to some of Europe’s top centre-forwards.

The Nigerian-born striker has continued to shine this season. In the 2025-26 season, Agekhova has already scored nine goals in 15 appearances, maintaining his reputation as one of the most clinical finishers in the Primeira Liga.

His performances have not only helped Porto challenge for domestic honors, but he has also attracted the attention of some of Europe’s elite clubs, including Tottenham, who are looking for a long-term solution up front following the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank and sporting director Johan Lange are thought to be on the same page regarding Agehowa’s profile.

Although the club’s attacking line-up is creative, it has lacked a stable centre-forward since Kane’s departure.

While Richarlison has shown flashes of talent, Spurs bosses would like to acquire a younger, more explosive option who can develop into a central role for years to come.

The huge investment in Dominic Solanke has not worked and Spurs are now looking to address that issue in the transfer market.

But the Spurs aren’t the only team keeping an eye on Agehowa. Clubs in Italy, Germany and Spain are also believed to be following the Nigerian’s development.

If successful, it would be a statement signing, but they would have to dig deep into their pockets to bring him to the club.
