The only woman to finish two rounds without a bogey at the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur stands alone at the top of the leaderboard. Asterisk Tully, 17, played a perfect 36 holes at Champions Retreat, signing with a round of 66-67 and hitting 11 under, topping Meja Oltengren (Sweden) and Maria Jose Marin (Colombia) by one stroke.
Play in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur will resume Saturday, and players who finish at or above the one-under cutline will play a practice round on Friday at Augusta National Golf Club, the golf course where the final round will be decided.
Talley’s total of 11-under 133 is two strokes shy of the ANWA 36-hole scoring record set by Rose Chan in 2023. She will be competing in the tournament for the third time, just one year after finishing runner-up by one stroke to Carla Bernat Escuder.
Talley shot a final round 68 at Augusta National in last year’s championship and (ironically) finished at 11 under. She has not had a bogey in the last 48 holes of this tournament dating back to 2025.
“It was pretty good,” Talley said. “I fell a little behind in both rounds, but I think that’s what you need here. Just a little bit of a stretch to stay alive. And I think I did that today. I made some good pars there and had some missed opportunities, but I can’t complain about the second round with no bogeys.”
Talley started the second round one stroke behind Marin and Soo-min Oh (South Korea), but quickly moved up the rankings. Birdies on holes one through three put her name back near the top of the leaderboard, where she will remain until Thursday afternoon.
She had 10 straight pars on her scorecard and jumped off the train on the par-5 14th for her second straight birdie on that hole. Immediately after that, the next batter followed, increasing his total to 11 under par and heading into the final round with a one-shot advantage.
“I think I know my game best, so I try to put my expectations first,” Talley said. “I think it’s just blocking out everyone else. It’s easier said than done, but when you’re on the course, you’re kind of in the zone. I think that helps you take one shot at a time and not worry about the outside noise.”
Andrea Revuelta and Avery Weed are in fourth place at 6 under, five strokes off Talley’s pace, and it could be a three-horse race at Augusta National between Talley, Oltengren and Mullin. Regardless of how the players compete for position on Saturday, all eyes will be on Tully, who enters the week as one of the favorites to win the championship and looks to make up for last year’s close call.
“(My expectation) was obviously to win,” Talley said. “Try to play your best golf for Augusta. I’m looking forward to Saturday and want to step up my game this time.”
