On Tuesday, the 18-year-old Estevao netted a goal for Chelsea in their 3-0 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League. The following day, 17-year-old Dastan Satpayev scored his first Champions League goal, contributing to Kairat Almaty’s 3-2 loss against Copenhagen. His goal makes him the third youngest player to score in the competition at just 17 years and 106 days, trailing only Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fatih, who achieved this milestone at even younger ages.

While one might expect clubs worldwide to pursue him, Chelsea proactively signed Satpayev earlier this year for €4 million, a record fee for the Kazakhstan Premier League. The speed of Chelsea's scouts is impressive, allowing them to identify youthful talent ahead of competitors.

Satpayev will remain on loan at Kairat until August 2026 before joining Chelsea. Having debuted at 15, he has become a standout player in Kazakhstan, poised to be the first from the nation to play in the Premier League. This season, only ten teenagers have scored in the Champions League, with four of them being on Chelsea's roster.

Chelsea is gearing up for the next season, already incorporating young talent into their ranks. Additionally, there's excitement regarding the potential arrival of 18-year-old Kendry Paes, who is settling into European football after moving from Strasbourg.

Satpayev is known for his speed and finishing ability with both feet, and he has already gained experience against top teams like Real Madrid. At just 17, he has accumulated 19 goals and eight assists across all competitions, making Chelsea’s push to secure him early all the more understandable. Enzo Maresca’s adeptness with young players will be an asset as Chelsea continues to strengthen their squad.

Fan Take: This news highlights the growing trend of clubs investing in young talent, which is vital for the future of soccer. As these young players step onto the global stage, they not only enhance their teams but also attract attention to leagues that may have previously gone unnoticed.
