Cole Palmer has been cleared to play in the London derby against Arsenal on Sunday, as confirmed by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca on Friday.

Palmer was unable to participate in Chelsea’s previous match against Burnley and their UEFA Champions League victory over Barcelona following a broken toe injury he sustained at home.

Maresca had initially thought Palmer would miss out on facing league frontrunners Arsenal, but announced on Friday that the key midfielder is ready for action.

“He is available, and the team is pleased to have him back,” said Maresca during a press conference.

“The key factor is that Cole is feeling good and is eager to play,” added Maresca. “He is arguably our best player, and we’re thrilled to have him back. We need to ensure he’s completely fit, but his previous performances give me confidence for the future.”

Palmer has not played since suffering a groin injury during Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in September.

He was close to returning when the unfortunate toe injury occurred last week.

Fan Take: Cole Palmer’s return is significant not just for Chelsea but the broader Premier League landscape. His presence could be the key to Chelsea’s title ambitions, and fans will be eager to see if he can deliver on his potential against their fierce London rivals.
