  • Liverpool’s reinforcements have not gone well so far.
  • Mo Salah gets a much-needed rest

Arne Slott’s Liverpool side travel to West Ham United as the Dutchman looks to get his team back into form.

The defending Premier League champions have struggled to perform this season.

Slott’s side sit in the bottom half of the Premier League standings and their defense of the league title has looked shaky all season.

The Merseyside club currently sit 13th in the league after a disastrous start to the season, losing six of their last seven Premier League games.

The performance of the senior players is attracting attention. The likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who signed new contracts at Anfield in the summer, are showing signs of aging for Premier League clubs.

Liverpool’s reinforcements have not gone well so far.

New players such as Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz have all failed to establish themselves in the Premier League.

He left out his team’s star attacker Mohamed Salah ahead of the game against West Ham, which was a must-win for Slott and his team.

When asked about it, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, he replied:

“We play four games in 10 days. Sometimes Alex is on the bench, sometimes Florian is on the bench. This is the 11 we have chosen today. It is not an easy decision. This is not the first time.”

Slot rotation policies reflect managers’ efforts to balance immediate results with long-term sustainability. Liverpool’s intense style of play is based on pressing and quick transitions, demanding the best physical condition from all players.

On the other hand, Salah has not been as effective this season. The Egyptian attacker has only scored four goals in the Premier League all season, a shockingly poor performance compared to last season’s numbers.

He probably needs some rest to get back into shape, but only time will tell if Slott made the right decision.
