The United States capped off the 2025 season on Monday night with a friendly victory against Italy at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The Americans secured a 3-0 win over Italy on Friday, thanks to two goals from Catalina Macario. She immediately continued her impressive form from the previous match, opening the scoring on Monday with a clever chip shot over Italian goalkeeper Francesca Durante.

Jaydyn Shaw, fresh off an NWSL championship win with Gotham FC, extended the U.S. lead just before halftime. As Alyssa Thompson advanced the ball from the back, Shaw skillfully maneuvered with his right foot and added an extra touch to curl his shot around Durante, making it 2-0 at the break.

In the second half, the U.S. came close to netting a third goal twice; however, a sliding shot from Lily Johannes was deemed offside, and Macario’s subsequent effort was disallowed due to a foul before she could score.

The 2-0 victory allows Emma Hayes’ team to conclude the 2025 season with an impressive record of 12 wins, 0 draws, and 3 losses.

Fan Take: This win not only highlights the U.S. team’s dominance but also signals their growing chemistry as they prepare for future competitions. For soccer fans, it’s exciting to see such talent emerging and a promising future for the national team.
