Tottenham set the sights for the defender’s re-signature in 2026

Tottenham is already thinking about possible transfers in 2026 despite the newly closed transfer window being closed. And one area where you have plans to deal with is the depth of defense.

Over the summer, Tottenham signed centre back Skota Takai and Kevin Danso. Strangely enough, Thomas Frank only had Pedro Polo, DJed Spence and Destiny Udogie as realistic options for two positions, but no fullback depth was added.

Spence can cover both sides, but he is more natural on the right side. So there’s room for adding a left back, and Tottenham has a line of familiar faces.

According to a soccer insider, Pete O’Rourke confirmed reports that Tottenham is keeping an eye on the moves of Sunderland’s left-back Dennis Chilkin. The 23-year-old had passed the ranks in North London before leaving in 2021.

“Along with Chilkin from Sunderland, this is another slightly surprising link. He can go through the ranks of Tottenham before going to Sunderland and make his name.

“He’ll boost their homemade allocations. They’ve had some issues with homemade allocations for Champions League teams this year. So if they want to take him to boost that, he’ll definitely provide a left-back cover if Tottenham makes the move for him.”

Cirkin has not appeared in Sunderland yet this season as he is nursing how he’s returned from his injury. Tottenham can look to his performance when he returns to action, and if he is impressed, it will increase the chances that the movement will be made.
