Liverpool managers Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards are understood to be seriously considering Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner to replace Arne Slott.
There are no talks yet with Glasner, who is also being monitored by Manchester United, but he is highly regarded within Anfield.
Slott remains safe for now, but pressure is mounting after Liverpool’s poor start to the season.
If the situation does not improve soon, the club is prepared to make a decision and those close to the situation believe Glasner is a potential successor.
Liverpool see Oliver Glasner similar to Jurgen Klopp
Glasner has had a fantastic spell at Palace, winning the FA Cup final against Manchester City last season, giving the club their first-ever trophy.
The Eagles continue to make huge strides under the Austrian tactician, with sources claiming that Hughes and Edwards see him as someone who shares many similarities with LFC legend Jurgen Klopp.
Glasner has certainly overachieved during his time at Selhurst Park, and that could bode well for him if he makes the step up to a bigger club where expectations will be much different.
Is it time for Oliver Glasner to replace Arne Slott?
Slott led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season in charge, but things have quickly gone downhill this season.
The Dutch tactician doesn’t seem to have an answer to this alarming slump, with Liverpool winning just four of their last 14 games in all competitions.
Their recent embarrassing run includes heavy home defeats to Nottingham Forest and PSV Eindhoven, with their only win in their last five games coming against relegation rivals West Ham.
Manchester United to intensify pursuit of Oliver Glasner
Glasner could be a useful option for United to consider now, after their underperformance in recent games.
The Red Devils continued their run of form for three games in a row, including a 2-1 win against Liverpool at Anfield.
But Ruben Amorim is sure to be under pressure again. His side currently have just one win in their last five games, having drawn at home to West Ham tonight and lost at home to Everton 10-a-side last week.
Liverpool may also need to act quickly if they decide to make a change, as it is thought the club may step up efforts to sign Glasner as Amorim’s replacement in the future.
