BMW Stakes Bold Claim in World Superbike Championship After Toprak Razgatlioglu’s Exit

Toprak Razgatlioglu’s move to MotoGP in 2026 marks a significant loss for BMW in the World Superbike Championship, but the manufacturer remains confident in its motorcycles, emphasizing that achieving 40 wins doesn’t happen by chance. The Turkish rider, who joined BMW in 2024 after four years and three world titles with Yamaha, achieved 39 victories and two world championships with BMW, though the brand only saw a single rider reach the top podium spot during his tenure.

With Razgatlioglu set to compete in the 2026 MotoGP season for the Pramac Yamaha Team, BMW will introduce a fresh lineup featuring ex-Grand Prix riders Danilo Petrucci and Miguel Oliveira. BMW’s technical director, Christian Gonchor, praised Razgatlioglu’s performance but stressed that BMW still has a “winning bike.” He highlighted that the team’s success comes from a combination of factors, not just the rider, and expressed confidence in the new riders’ potential to secure wins.

Gonchor also speculated that Ducati might not retain Nicolo Brega, the current runner-up, for 2026. He acknowledged Ducati’s strong package seen in testing but reminded that tests differ from actual races, noting that the season’s start at Philip Island will be crucial for setting the tone.

Fan Take: This transfer shakes up the World Superbike landscape, signaling a fresh era for BMW with new talents ready to prove themselves. Fans should brace for an exciting 2026, as the rivalry intensifies and fresh dynamics could redefine the competition’s future.
