Brittney Griner is keen on maintaining a strong connection with her fans, particularly during the WNBA offseason. With ongoing collective bargaining negotiations causing uncertainty and the possibility of a lockout, top players like Griner are seeking opportunities beyond the league.

Griner is currently competing in Unrivaled, an independent 3-on-3 basketball league created by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Brianna Stewart. She plays for the Vinyl Basketball Club alongside other notable WNBA players such as Dearica Hamby, Courtney Williams, and Rhyne Howard.

On a personal front, Griner recently launched her own YouTube channel. On Wednesday, she took to social media to encourage fans to subscribe. She initially announced the channel on January 21, sharing videos that provide glimpses into her daily life. In one of her first uploads, the 35-year-old documented her preparations for an Unrivaled game, including trips to Best Buy to acquire gaming equipment. She’s also started posting short clips that have quickly gained thousands of views, and her channel now boasts over 1,100 subscribers.

On Instagram, the two-time WNBA Defensive Player of the Year urged her followers to subscribe, sharing a snippet from her initial YouTube video. Griner promises to keep posting more behind-the-scenes content about her everyday activities.

Just recently, Griner completed her 12th WNBA season, playing for the Atlanta Dream in 2025. After 11 seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, she joined the Dream as a free agent and was a nine-time All-Star. During the 2025 season, she averaged 9.8 points, shot 51.8 percent from the field, grabbed 5.2 rebounds, and blocked 1.2 shots per game in 20.8 minutes—numbers which were career lows for the two-time WNBA scoring champion. Griner’s one-year deal with Atlanta has now expired, making her a free agent who must negotiate a new contract either with the Dream or another team.

Vinyl BC is set to compete again in Unrivaled, facing Race BC on Sunday at 5:45 p.m. ET, with the game airing on Tru TV and Max.

Fan Take: Brittney Griner’s efforts to engage fans through new platforms like YouTube and her participation in independent leagues highlight how WNBA stars are expanding their influence beyond traditional league play. This not only keeps fans connected during uncertain times but also broadens the visibility and appeal of women’s basketball, potentially attracting new audiences to the sport.
