Karl Burke Set to Welcome Royal Fixing to His Team

Euron Investments has strengthened its expanding UK stable by acquiring Royal Fixation, a winner of the Lowther Stakes, who will now join Carl Burke’s Talent Academy in Middleham. Under the guidance of Ed Walker and previous owner Opulence Thoroughbred, Royal Fixation showed consistent form as a young competitor, narrowly missing out on top placements. She claimed a Group 2 victory at York, closely trailing Burke’s Morny Trophy winner Venetian Son in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, and earned a respected third place behind Aidan O’Brien’s True Love in the Cheveley Park Stakes.

Royal Fixation is set to move to Spigot Lodge under coach Burke’s care to prepare for the spring season. Owner Zhang Yuesheng, who also has 2000 Guineas hopeful Gewan following his Dewhurst success, hopes this filly may bolster their Classic ambitions for 2026. Paul Curran, Zhang’s pedigree and racing manager, commented on the filly’s potential, highlighting their recent acquisition and noting her strong performance last season against high-caliber rivals, suggesting they might target mile races.

While a bid for the Guineas remains undecided, Curran sees promising prospects for Royal Fixation in races over six to seven furlongs, describing her as an exciting filly. She will join other Burke-trained hopefuls, including Venetian Sun and Evolutionist—who placed third in the Fillies’ Mile—at the North Yorkshire stable, aiming to boost confidence in the growing team.

Curran emphasized the strong partnership with Karl Burke, praising his skill in training young three-year-olds, particularly fillies, and expressed enthusiasm about adding another talented filly to their line-up, reinforcing their stable’s competitive edge.

Fan Take: This development is a thrilling boost for fans, as it signals a new contender with proven talent entering a top-tier training environment, promising intense competition in upcoming Classics. It also highlights the strategic investments shaping the future of British flat racing, making the sport more exciting and dynamic to watch.
