Qatar Grand Prix on ESPN2 sets new viewing record

ESPN2’s live coverage of the Qatar Grand Prix on Sunday, November 30th averaged 1.4 million viewers. This is the largest audience ever to watch the event on U.S. television, based on Nielsen Big Data + Panel data. Viewership reached 1.7 million between noon ET and 12:15 p.m.

This season’s 23 F1 races set 15 event viewing records across ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC. The previous viewership record for the Qatar Grand Prix was 990,000, set in 2024.

This season’s F1 races averaged 1.3 million viewers, on track to set an all-time record for average U.S. television viewership for a live race. The current record of 1.21 million people was set in 2022.

The F1 season concludes with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday 7th December. The race will be broadcast live on ESPN and streamed on the ESPN app starting at 7:55 a.m. ET, and will be the last F1 race on ESPN as the series moves to stream on Apple TV starting with the 2026 season.
