Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has now named Real Madrid’s “special” star as his priority target, with other Premier League clubs also joining the race for his signature.

Man United’s attacking power was evident in their victory over Molineux

Man United got back to winning ways on Monday night with Bruno Fernandes scoring twice and a quality attacking performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux for a 4-1 win.

Brian Mbeumo also scored his sixth Premier League goal of the season during the rout, while Mason Mount also featured and Amorim was very impressed with the Englishman’s performance.

Amorim said after the attacking midfielder won the player of the match award: “He can defend, he can attack and his quality when he touches the ball is really high, so it’s not surprising to me.”

“He’s a different type of leader. Unlike, say, Lisha (Lissandro Martinez). He’s a guy who leads by example.”

It’s clear that Amorim have plenty of top-quality forward options at their disposal, with Matheus Cunha also providing an assist in the win that lifted United to sixth in the table, but Real Madrid’s attacker is now in the spotlight.

This comes as Caught Offside reports that Man United are currently stepping up their pursuit of Arda Guler, who is Amorim’s priority target for next summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool are also in the race for Guler, with Arne Slott’s side currently believed to be leading the race, but Madrid have no intention of allowing him to leave easily.

It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be able to lure them for sale, as the Turkish player is seen as an important part of the Spanish side’s long-term project.

‘Special’ Guler could be a great long-term deal for Manchester United

At just 20 years old, the attacking midfielder has established himself as a key player for Real Madrid this season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists in 21 games in all competitions.

Former manager Carlo Ancelotti waxed lyrical about his star player: “I think the closer he is to the goal, the better. He is very effective, scores a lot of goals from little space and has a special talent. The closer he is to the goal, the better he shows it.”

INEOS is chasing its biggest deal ever…

The £87,000-a-week youngster could be a great long-term addition to Amorim’s squad, having already proven himself at a high level, scoring two goals in the 2025-26 Champions League and six goals in 26 appearances for Turkey.

He has been described by author Neil Gardner as “the single best midfield prospect in world football”, and the fact that he finished second in the 2025 Golden Boys rankings behind PSG’s Desire Douet speaks volumes.

However, it is somewhat difficult to imagine Madrid sanctioning a sale, given that Guler’s contract runs until 2029, there is no pressing need for financing, and he has been an important player for Xabi Alonso this season.
