AC Milan are preparing an ambitious move to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, according to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
The Rossoneri expect Mike Maignan to leave at the end of the season, with Chelsea reportedly leading the race to sign the France international and have reportedly already begun initial contacts with Alisson’s agent.
Maignan, 30, has been an integral part of AC Milan since joining from Lille, but is expected to leave the club amid growing interest in the Premier League.
Chelsea see him as a long-term successor to current goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez.
Milan target Liverpool star Alisson as transfer target
As Milan prepare for his departure, sporting director Igri Tare hastily moved to find a successor, with Alisson at the top of his list.
The Italian giants believe the Brazilian is the ideal candidate to bring both experience and leadership to their backline.
Tavolieri said preliminary talks have already taken place between Milan and Alisson’s representatives to gauge interest and feasibility ahead of the summer transfer window.
Alisson, now 33, is one of Liverpool’s most respected figures and a cornerstone of their modern-day success. Since joining from AS Roma for a then-world record £67m in 2018, the Brazilian has helped the Reds win the Premier League and Champions League.
However, his contract runs until June 2027, and he could be in the news next summer.
Alisson has 18 months left before Liverpool need to make a decision on whether to extend his contract or raise funds, especially as the club is in a period of transition under Arne Slott.
Could the Reds consider letting Alisson leave?
While some believe Alisson is essential for Liverpool, others believe it makes financial sense to sell him before his value drops, especially given the need to revamp several areas of the team.
Liverpool’s immediate focus remains on their Champions League and Premier League campaigns, while Milan are in a tight race for the Serie A title.
However, with Meignan’s future uncertain and Alisson reportedly open to new challenges as he approaches the twilight of his career, the Brazilian could be ready to move to the Italian league next summer.
