Manchester City are in pole position to sign Bahian teen sensation Del, beating rivals Manchester United in the race for Brazil’s most exciting up-and-comer, according to TEAMtalk.

The 17-year-old forward has become one of South America’s hottest prospects after a breakout year with City Football Group (CFG) club Bahia.

His rapid rise on both the domestic and international stage has attracted the attention of several European giants, but the advantage of City’s strategic ownership may allow them to gain internal routes.

Dell is widely admired for his explosive speed, clinical finishing and intelligent movement, traits that have led to early comparisons with City’s prolific striker Erling Haaland.

The young Brazilian was one of the standout players at the FIFA U17 World Cup, finishing as the tournament’s third-leading scorer and developing a reputation as a natural finisher who can thrive on the big stage.

At club level, Dell has already made two first-team appearances for Bahia, despite his age.

Coaches within the Bahia squad describe him as fearless, focused and mature beyond his years.

His ability to play as both a central striker and a wide forward gives him tactical versatility, a key attribute that Josep Guardiola and City’s recruitment team admire.

The relationship between City and Bahia could be decisive. City Football Group, which owns both clubs, has long used its global network to identify and develop elite young players.

Despite City having a clear advantage, Man United are not giving up. Scouts at Old Trafford reportedly monitored Dell’s performances at the Under-17 World Cup.

Under INEOS’ leadership, United’s recruitment team has prioritized young attacking talent and Dell fits that profile perfectly.
