Yaroslav Amosov is finally set to make his long-anticipated UFC debut this Saturday. The former Bellator welterweight champion will take on Neil Magny on the undercard of UFC Vegas 112.

Amosov began his MMA career with an impressive 27 straight victories before suffering a knockout loss to Jason Jackson. Following that setback, the training partner of Oleksandr Usyk rebounded with a submission win over Curtis Millender, earning him a chance to face the experienced welterweight contender Magny in his UFC debut.

In a remarkable turn of events, Amosov paused his MMA career to join the Ukrainian national team in April 2022 amid turmoil in his homeland. Despite his family home being destroyed by a bomb, his mother safeguarded his prized possessions, including his world title belt. A poignant video shows Amosov, clad in camouflage, returning to reclaim his belt from his bombed-out home, declaring that he will never give it up again.

UFC Vegas 112 holds historic significance as the final UFC event of the year and the last to air on ESPN, ahead of the promotion’s new $7.7 billion TV deal with Paramount starting January. The main card kicks off at 10:00 PM ET featuring fighters such as Brandon Royval and Manel Kape, while the preliminary card at 7:00 PM ET includes Amosov vs. Magny.

Fan Take: Amosov’s UFC debut is not just a fight; it’s a symbol of resilience and determination, inspiring fans worldwide. His entry into the UFC light welterweight division promises exciting matchups and adds a compelling storyline that elevates the sport’s global narrative.
