The International Tennis Fairness Body announced Thursday that French tennis player Quentin Folio has been suspended for 20 years for match-fixing. Mr. Folliott also must pay a $70,000 fine and repay more than $44,000 in corruption charges. During the period of the ban, a player may not play, coach, or participate in any tennis event sanctioned by an ITIA member or national association.

The ITIA investigation, which has already resulted in disciplinary action against five other players, found that Folio, 26, had committed 27 violations of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program and was “a central figure in a network of players operating on behalf of a match-fixing syndicate.”

The period of interim suspension will count towards Folio’s 20-year suspension. This period ends in May 2044. He will be 44 years old when his suspension ends.

Folio denied 30 charges stemming from 11 games between 2022 and 2024, eight of which he played. Folliot was charged with falsifying match results, accepting money to avoid best efforts for gambling purposes, offering money to other players to fix matches, providing inside information, conspiracy to commit corruption, failing to cooperate with an ITIA investigation, and destroying evidence.

Anti-corruption Hearing Officer Amani Khalifa upheld 27 of the charges at a hearing in October, later describing Foliot as “an intermediary in a broader criminal organization that actively recruits other players and seeks to further embed corruption on the professional tour.”

Folliott achieved a career-high singles world ranking of No. 488 in August 2022. After that, his ranking dropped to 1163rd due to the provisional suspension from May 2024. Folio’s professional singles record is 201-156 (.563) and doubles record is 111-113 (.496).
