Michael Bisping, Former 525-Pound UFC Star, Faces Bloodied Defeat in Debut KO Showdown

Michael Bisping believed his days of fighting and getting bloodied in the Octagon were behind him after officially retiring from MMA in 2018. Since then, Bisping has become a familiar voice as one of Dana White’s preferred UFC commentators. The British fan favorite was in the commentary booth for the last UFC event of 2025 on Saturday night.

During UFC Vegas 112, Steven Asplund made his long-awaited debut against Shawn Sharaf, securing a second-round TKO victory that improved his record to 7-1. The fight got intense enough that Sharaf’s blood splattered onto the commentary booth, covering Bisping’s “designer” shirt, which Bisping humorously complained about. Bisping even stepped into the Octagon afterward for the post-fight interview with Asplund, confirming the blood splatter.

Asplund earned his UFC spot after an impressive first-round finish on Dana White’s Contender Series earlier in 2025. Throughout his journey, Asplund shared his remarkable weight loss story — having once weighed over 520 pounds, he transformed himself into a UFC competitor weighing in at 261 pounds for the fight. Reflecting on his past, Asplund opened up to Bisping about the bullying he endured and emphasized the importance of self-confidence despite physical appearance.

Fan Take: Steven Asplund’s incredible transformation and UFC debut serve as an inspiring reminder that dedication and resilience can dramatically change lives and careers in MMA. For fight fans, it highlights the sport’s power not just as a competition, but as a platform for personal growth and motivation for anyone facing adversity.
