San Jose Sharks forward Jeff Skinner has reached a significant career milestone. On December 16th, he played in his 1,100th NHL game during a matchup between the Sharks and the Calgary Flames.

Playing 1,100 games in the NHL is a remarkable achievement, highlighting Skinner’s enduring presence in the league. What makes this feat even more notable is that Skinner is only 33 years old.

Skinner made a strong impression early on, scoring 63 points in his rookie season (2010-11) after being picked seventh overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He is now in his 16th NHL season.

This past offseason, Skinner signed with the Sharks as a free agent on a one-year contract worth $3 million. So far this season, he has played 21 games for San Jose, scoring four goals and accumulating seven points.

Over 1,100 games spanning his time with the Hurricanes, Buffalo Sabres, Edmonton Oilers, and Sharks, Skinner has tallied 377 goals, 329 assists, and a total of 706 points.

Fan Take: Jeff Skinner’s milestone is a testament to his skill and durability in a demanding sport, inspiring both fans and young players. His continued impact on the ice shows that veteran players can still be key contributors, which is great for the longevity and competitiveness of the NHL.
