After wins against Burnley and Manchester City in the first two games of the season, Thomas Frank appeared to be the perfect man to lead Tottenham Hotspur’s forwards.
The Dane made an immediate impact within the squad at both ends of the Premier League pitch, with his team scoring five times and keeping two clean sheets.
But with four defeats in their last seven league games, the Lilywhites have fallen to 11th in the league table, adding to the pressure on the 52-year-old.
Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest was the latest example of the struggles the manager has faced in recent weeks and could result in fans pointing the finger at the Dane.
As a result, a number of options are being considered, which could lead to a change of manager at the north Londoner ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
Spurs looking for manager to replace Frank
In recent days, former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been touted as making a sensational return to north London if Frank is sacked.
The Argentine, who is currently the coach of the United States men’s national team, has previously spoken of his desire to return to the Lilywhites, which he left in November 2019.
However, it is unclear at this point whether a deal will be agreed, especially since the 53-year-old is set to lead the hosts at next summer’s World Cup.
He is not the only manager currently on the Lilywhites radar, with Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner also currently being considered by Lilywhites bosses.
According to CaughtOffside, the Austrian manager is just one of the managers currently being considered by the executive committee and could be close to signing a deal with the Eagles, which expires in June.
The report also states that the board have been hugely impressed with his work at Selhurst Park and that Spurs could be the next step in his career.
Tottenham could emerge winners of this game, with outspoken manager Jamie O’Hara described as a “better manager” than Arteta.
Comparison of Oliver Glasner and Thomas Frank
After taking Brentford to the top of the English pyramid and making them an established club in the Premier League, the decision to appoint Frank looked like the right one, after which he was able to take the next step in his career.
His tactics are showing signs of success, but ultimately results and performances in recent months have been too inconsistent.
The board will no doubt give the Dane time to get them back into England’s top tier, especially as they have reportedly paid a £10m remuneration package for his services.
Despite their recent downturn in form, the Lilywhites remain six points adrift of the top four in their division, and it’s easy to see them dominating European football for another season.
However, a move for Glasner would give the club a significant upgrade in management, especially given the work he has already done in the Capital Region.
The 51-year-old has been in the role at Selhurst Park for two years and has already won an FA Cup title. This is the first major trophy in the Eagles’ 120-year history.
Apart from the trophies he has won, the Austrian has also performed well in the Premier League, and his fundamental numbers highlight why he is the perfect replacement for Frank.
Glasner, who is “destined for greatness” according to Anil Kandra, has a higher winning percentage in the Premier League, as seen by his 41% success rate.
Such a record, together with the number of trophies won, underlines the success that the Palace manager has already endured in his career, making him undoubtedly a serial winner.

He has lost few games in charge in England’s top flight and often finds a way to keep producing results, something that has been lacking for the Lilywhites this season.
But success also requires quality at both ends of the pitch, with Glasner’s side currently scoring more goals and conceding fewer goals than any of Frank’s sides in the Premier League.
It is unclear how soon the Spurs leadership will consider parting ways with Frank after his arrival in the summer, but the Dane is desperate for a change of scenery or his job will undoubtedly be at risk.
As for Palace’s manager, Glasner has all the tools to make the club back-to-back champions in the near future and would be the perfect person to take charge in north London.
