Randy Patterson, Sam M. Vogel, and Joe Morgan’s horse Dreamin’ Blue set a swift tempo before making a three-wide move near the quarter pole to take the lead and ultimately win Friday’s $135,000 Silks Overnight Stakes at Oak Lawn by three lengths. This six-furlong race, debuting this year, is exclusively for 3-year-olds who have yet to win an open stakes event.

Trained by Randy Morse and guided by jockey Rafael Bejarano, Dreamin’ Blue clocked in at 1:09.10, the quickest time recorded in the first four days of the 2025-2026 Oaklawn season. The Street Boss gelding notched his second victory in 11 starts, earning $74,925 and raising his career winnings to $252,527.

Starting at 5 to 1 odds, Dreamin’ Blue paid $12.80 to win. Amorosa, who led early on, finished second, two and a quarter lengths ahead of popular contender Kalahari Dreams, who holds a record of five wins and two losses. The rest of the field finished in the order of Faust, Him, Sharp Swinger, Divine Justice, and Amoudi Bey. U Devil You was scratched on race day.

The festive Oaklawn season continues with a 10-race lineup on Saturday, showcasing the $150,000 Tinsel Stakes for older route horses and a $110,126.58 Classic Pick 6 carryover on the final six races. The first race starts at 12:30 pm CST.

Fan Take: This win by Dreamin’ Blue highlights the emergence of fresh talent ready to make a mark in stakes racing, keeping the sport dynamic and exciting. For fans, it signals a promising future with new horses stepping up to challenge established competitors, enhancing the competitive spirit of horse racing.
