Senators Secure Fourth Consecutive Victory with a Strong 6-2 Road Triumph in Boston

The Ottawa Senators secured their first four-game winning streak this season with an impressive road victory against a key division opponent. On Sunday, they overwhelmed the Boston Bruins 6-2, limiting them to just 19 shots on goal.

Fabian Zetterlund was a standout player, scoring two goals and assisting once, while Dylan Cozens and Drake Batherson each contributed a goal and two assists. Claude Giroux also chipped in with a goal and an assist.

This victory puts Ottawa just one point shy of a playoff position, having claimed five wins in their last six outings.

The Senators jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the first period, thanks to goals from Batherson, Giroux, and Zetterlund. David Pastrnak from the Bruins responded early, narrowing the gap to 3-1 by the first period’s end.

Ottawa maintained their strong play in the second period with goals from Tim Stuetzle and Dylan Cozens, which effectively sealed the Bruins’ fate. Former Senator Joonas Korpisalo was pulled from the game at this stage, leaving Jeremy Swayman rested during a back-to-back matchup.

Boston’s Michael Eisymont later cut Ottawa’s lead to 5-2 with just over five minutes remaining, but Zetterlund quickly restored the Senators’ four-goal advantage with a power-play goal. That marked the final tally, though the on-ice rivalry continued to heat up.

As the home crowd tried to make a statement, Ottawa’s enforcer Curtis McDiarmid fought twice, first against Tanner Jannot in the second period and then against ex-Senator Mark Kusteric in the third.

Tensions flared in the final moments when David Pastrnak exchanged words with Brady Tkachuk near the Senators’ bench. Pastrnak appeared to high-stick Nick Jensen, leading Ridley Greig to step in and deliver several heavy punches, resulting in a bloody lip for Pastrnak and both players being ejected.

Despite the lopsided score, Boston could have suffered an even heavier defeat as Ottawa missed several scoring opportunities, including two clear shorthanded breakaways by Stuetzle.

What stood out in this game was Ottawa’s disciplined and effective play. Unlike past versions of the team that might have gotten overly excited trying to pile on stats, this group worked hard, stayed focused, and played tight defense.

The Senators will next play on Tuesday night, hosting the Buffalo Sabers at the Canadian Tire Center for their last game before Christmas.

Fan Take: This win is a significant momentum booster for the Senators, signaling they could be serious playoff contenders this season. For hockey fans, it highlights the thrilling competitive spirit of the sport, reminding us how quickly teams can turn their fortunes around with hard work and determination.
