Real Madrid continue to make detailed plans for the future as negotiations over a new contract with Vinicius Junior remain unresolved, with the club secretly preparing alternative scenarios should the negotiations fail to reach a conclusion.

There is no sense of panic within the Santiago Bernabéu, but the club’s executives are well aware that they need to prepare for any possible outcome when it comes to one of the most valuable players in football.

Vinicius has repeatedly expressed both publicly and privately his joy at Real Madrid and his desire to continue his career there.

That message was reinforced by those at the top of the club.

President Florentino Perez is said to be committed to keeping the Brazilian superstar at the Bernabéu, seeing him as a key part of Madrid’s long-term sporting project alongside Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and the next generation of Galacticos.

Madrid are prepared to do everything financially to secure his future and believe his importance on and off the pitch warrants elite-level conditions.

Only if negotiations completely break down, which Madrid still believe is unlikely, would they be forced to even consider a sale.

And even in that scenario, any decision would be made entirely on Madrid’s terms, with a fee that reflects their status as one of the most decisive attackers in world football.

According to Cadena SER, Real Madrid have already identified a contingency plan should the worst-case scenario materialize.

That plan would include a pivot to Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vicinha, who has been admired by Madrid scouts for several seasons.

Vicinha’s profile is thought to be an ideal fit for Madrid’s evolving midfield structure. Technically gifted, strong in pressing and tactically smart, the Portuguese international has developed into one of Paris Saint-Germain’s most reliable performers.

His ability to set the tempo, advance the ball in tight spaces and play in high-pressure games has also caught the attention of Valdebebas, and the recruitment staff see him as a player who can increase control of Madrid’s midfield for years to come.

Importantly, Madrid’s interest in Vicinha does not indicate an expectation that Vinicius will leave.

Rather, it reflects the club’s long-standing philosophy regarding its future plans.
