6 Favorite Golf Resorts to Visit in 2025

We traveled to a resort in Texas.

Then off to a resort in California.

and a city in central Wisconsin.

Would you like recommendations for different golf resorts? We will introduce you to a variety of recommended golf resorts. GOLF staff visited several golf-themed spots this year, and here are six of our favorites.

6 Favorite Golf Resorts to Visit in 2025

Alain Bastable, Editor-in-Chief (@alan_bastable): While I can’t comment on the accommodations or other amenities at Scottsdale’s Gold Canyon Resort (I haven’t stayed there!), I can offer a glowing review of Dinosaur Mountain, one of the two golf courses. I played it for the third time in February. My neighborhood friends and I take a golf trip to Scottsdale every year, and Dino Mountain has become one of our must-visit destinations. It’s like golden tea in the best sense of the word. Many of the tee boxes are set on the cliffs of the mountain itself, and many of the holes are set against the backdrop of the volcanic region known as the Superstition Range. It’s great, fun, and playable – and yes, I’ll be back this February.

Josh Berhow, Editor-in-Chief (@Josh_Berhow): Horseshoe Bay Resort is located about an hour west of Austin, Texas. We snuck out of Minnesota for a warm-weather getaway during spring break, and Horseshoe Bay turned out to be a great option. Relaxing but good golf. There are many pools for children. Barbecue for days. Spectacular mini golf too. And we didn’t have to leave the premises.

Jessica Marksbury, Senior Editor (@Jess_Marksbury): The Southern California desert is one of my favorite escape destinations. I especially recommend going during shoulder season in October, when the weather is perfect and there are fewer people. This year, my family visited Omni Rancho Las Palmas for a reunion with my high school friends and their families. The resort was huge and the accommodations were lovely. The balcony had a great view of the golf course. Unfortunately I didn’t play, but I love California desert golf so I’m sure the course is great. However, what I can give a great review for is the family-friendly pool area, which was really nice. Two water slides, a lazy river, and a sandy “beach” kept the kids occupied for two days in a row. The resort’s restaurants offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor dining, and there’s also a menu of fun crafts and activities for kids. We have been to many resorts in Southern California over the years, but this one quickly became a favorite.

Nick Piastowski, Senior Editor (@nickpia): Unfortunately I didn’t visit the resort this year, but I think I can contribute here. For the past four years, a group of friends and I have been driving to the Green Lake, Wisconsin area and turning it into our own golf resort. We are renting an Airbnb. We stock up on supplies at Hy-Vee in Ripon. We play golf at two gems (Links and Woodlands) on the Lawsonia property in Green Lake. He also plays at Tuscumbia in Green Lake and Mascutin in Berlin. Travel is cheap. We do things on our own schedule. Golf is great. Yes, we are already planning a visit in 2026.

Josh Sens, Senior Writer (@JoshSens): This year, more than a decade after it first opened, Gamble Sands finally returned. When I first went there, it was a new place with just a course and a pro shop. There is nothing in the way of amenities. Since then, they’ve added a great par 3 course, and more recently their brother No. 18, Scarecrow, a great restaurant, fun bar, hangout area, and great accommodations to support a really fun putting course. In other words, this property has evolved from a curiosity to a full-fledged destination in a setting overlooking a river valley unlike anything I’ve seen at an American golf course.

Sean Zack, Senior Writer (@Sean Zak): I recently had the pleasure of visiting Omni La Costa and was absolutely charmed by this place. The only thing I wish I had was a tennis partner, as the non-golf services are also very good. The campus is huge, but there’s a lot to offer – lighted tennis courts, all kinds of pickleball areas, a huge fully equipped gym – not to mention the course that hosts the NCAA D1 Golf Championships.
